Any writer worth a damn knows how important aesthetics can be to a story. In "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle," the old barn is as much a character as young Edgar is, and that is completely intentional. I am a writer and a photographer, so aesthetics tend to be twice as important to me. In that regard, I've made some obvious yet strange observations since I moved to Colorado, and if you really think about this, none of it should be a surprise but all of it should be appalling, not just for the sake of aesthetics, but also for the sake of creativity and quality of life. Hey folks. Sorry once again for the delay in posting…it’s been a bumpy few weeks since my wife and I moved to Colorado, and we’re just now settled enough that I feel like I might be able to get into a normal routine again. Every once in a while, a C-130 airplane flies overhead, since we live so close to the Air Force base, and it reminds me that I’m somewhere new. In Arizona, it was the constant train noise that identified my surroundings. Now the noise has taken to the air…totally different vibe altogether.
So what’s been going on? I’ve got big news, cool news, and mundane news. Let’s start with the mundane.

I know it’s been a while since I posted on the blog, but I have a good excuse: I moved to a different state. I now live in the great state of Colorado, and it’s been an up and down week as we got settled into our new place.
